  • How do I fix the "bootmgr is missing error" when booting from Windows OS?

    Creating and running a Windows recovery disk can resolve the "bootmgr is missing error" issue. Microsoft's official OS-related comprehensive solutions can be found on Microsoft official support.

  • Why is my SSD not recognized?

    • 1.

      If the SSD is not properly connected, the system may fail to recognize the SSD. Replace the cable or reconnect it to a different storage slot.

    • 2.

      Check the BIOS settings or slots before configuring the boot sequence for the OS.

    • 3.

      If the BIOS of the motherboard is outdated, the PC may not support the SSD. Update the motherboard BIOS to the latest version.

  • Why is the SSD not visible in Windows Device Manager?

    • 1.

      The SSD may not be automatically detected by the PC. Search for a new device in Windows Device Manager.

    • 2.

      If the Hot Plug-in for each port is specified as Off in the BIOS settings, Windows may not recognize the SSD. Reboot the system, and then enter the BIOS settings to ensure that Hot Plug-in is set to "Enabled" for each port.

    • 3.

      If the SSD is not properly connected, the system may fail to recognize the SSD. Replace the cable or reconnect it to a different storage slot.

    • 4.

      If the partition is not defined, the SSD may not be recognized.

    In Device Manager, set up partitions, format the drive, and reboot.

    Management> Disk Management> Select SSD> Set up partitions and format

  • What if I can't format the drive?

    • 1.

      The SSD may not be recognized if it isn't connected correctly. Disconnect and connect the drive, and try again.

    • 2.

      Check for any damage to the device port of the cable.

    • 3.

      Replace the cable and try again.

    • 4.

      Connect the SSD to a different device port and check if the drive is recognized.

      Check if the SSD is connected to an expansion port. If it's connected to an expansion port, connect the SSD to a regular port.

      If the SSD is connected to a regular port, connect it to another port and reboot.

    • 5.

      Check the BIOS settings.

    • 6.

      Connect the SSD to another computer to check if there is an issue with the SSD itself.

  • Why does SSD performance degrade over time?

    Using TRIM and Garbage Collection technologies can help maintain SSD performance. On certain OS, TRIM is executed automatically. (e.g., Windows 7 and later versions) If the problem persists, you can run "Secure Erase" using the Samsung SSD Magician software. Please refer to the manual for detailed information and instructions on this procedure. The Magician software application is only available on Windows-based PCs.

  • Why doesn't Samsung SSD Magician recognize my storage device?

    When connecting a new storage device, you need to refresh Samsung Magician manually or reboot the PC. If it is not recognized, reboot your PC and check if the SSD is recognized in Windows Device Manager. Then, check the items below and try again. Unless there are compatibility issues, refer to the "Troubleshooting" section in the Magician software's Help menu for more information.

    • 1.

      In Windows 7 without NVMe drivers installed, NVMe drives may not be recognized. Please install the Samsung NVMe driver.

    • 2.

      If the SSD is connected to a RAID/SCSI storage device controller, then Samsung Magician may not be able to recognize the SSD properly.

    • 3.

      If the system BIOS is outdated, it may not be able to support the SSD. Please update the BIOS to the latest version.

    • 4.

      The SSD may not be recognized due to the SSD cable being connected incorrectly. Disconnect the cable and connect it again.

    • 5.

      If there is an issue with the SATA/NVMe ports, Samsung Magician may not recognize the SSD. Switch to a new SATA/NVMe port and try again.

    • 6.

      Some older AMD chipsets and AMD drivers are not supported by Samsung Magician. In this case, please install the Microsoft default driver.

  • Running Secure Erase after booting from a CD or a USB may corrupt the text.

    When using the DOS-based Secure Erase utility, you should use the "/s" command-line parameter in the command that configures the default DOS font. The command is as follows:

  • Samsung Magician does not recognize the SSD. What should I do?

    Please check the Internet connection, reboot the PC, and try again. In order to certify an SSD as a Samsung SSD, Samsung Magician needs an Internet connection. If the problem is not resolved, please contact Samsung Authorized Service Center.

  • I'm trying to perform Secure Erase in DOS mode, but Samsung Magician displays a message saying that my drive is in "frozen state." What should I do?

    If the "Frozen state" message is displayed during Secure Erase, unplug the SATA power cable from the SSD without turning off the PC, wait for a few seconds, and then reconnect it. Enter "SEGUI0/exe" in the command prompt to run the Magician DOS utility again. Run Secure Erase again.

  • What should I do if a Data Migration error code appears?

    If the migration error shown below occurs, the solution is as follows:
