  • Regenerative Catalytic System (RCS)

We constantly develop and discover eco-friendly technologies to reduce carbon emissions in our manufacturing operation. RCS is the first and only large-capacity, integrated greenhouse gas treatment facility in the semiconductor industry. Jointly developed with Samsung Engineering in 2007 and first adopted in 2009, RCS was the first of its kind to be used in the semiconductor industry, and still exclusively operated at Samsung Semiconductor.

  • Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)

Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is a method used to collectively evaluate a product’s environmental impact through its entire life cycle from raw materials extraction stage to production, application and disposal of a product. Meanwhile, adopting the methods on semiconductor has been a continuing challenge as it requires numerous raw material, hundreds of complicated manufacturing processes and thousands of application. At Samsung Semiconductor, after strenuous studies and research, we came up with a comprehensive way to accounts the vast amount of necessary data to measure carbon emitted throughout semiconductor’s lifecycle.
