0.64μm-sized pixelsIn recent years, high resolution image sensors with at least 32MP have become the standard for smartphone cameras. That’s thanks to small pixel technologies that allow for more pixels to be packed into a limited space. Featuring the industry’s smallest, 0.64μm pixels, the ISOCELL JN1 enables a much wider range of smartphones to feature high resolution cameras, delivering 50MP in a slim package that meets the demands of modern, thinner smartphone designs. ISOCELL JN1’s 1/2.76-inch optical format makes it compatible with 1/2.8-inch products, so that it can be used for any position including front-facing, ultra-wide or telephoto cameras.

ISOCELL 2.0
for vivid colorArmed with advanced ISOCELL 2.0, the next evolution of Samsung’s pixel isolation technology, the ISOCELL JN1 has improved each pixel’s light sensitivity by around 16-percent1). ISOCELL is a technology that uses a physical barrier around each pixel to reduce color interference between neighboring pixels. But the metal grid between color filters absorbed some of the incoming light, thus resulting in optical loss. With ISOCELL 2.0, Samsung implemented upgraded materials between color filters to deliver better performance. As a result, each pixel holds more light and delivers high color fidelity with every snapshot you take.

Tetrapixel to
boost
low light
performanceTetrapixel technology is an advanced pixel-binning technology to overcome challenging light environments. In Tetra Bayer pattern, four neighboring pixels all have the same RGB color value. When shooting in low-light environments, these four 0.64μm-pixels work like one large 1.28μm-pixel, increasing light absorption and producing a bright 12.5MP image with less noise. In bright lighting conditions, a software re-mosaic algorithm rearranges the pixels to maximize resolution, capturing 50MP images with rich details. No matter the lighting conditions, the ISOCELL JN1 delivers optimized results.

Inter-scene HDR
for even more
dynamic rangeInter-scene HDR works by reading the scene twice. First it reads the scene at a high ISO with a longer exposure to reveal details in darker areas of the image. At the same time, it reads the scene at a low ISO with a shorter exposure to capture vivid colors even in bright areas of the scene. The processor then merges the two readouts into one image. The final result is a stunning HDR photo with balanced shadows and highlights.

Double Super PD
for faster
autofocusSuper PD is a phase detection autofocus system that uses oval-shaped micro-lenses to achieve snappy autofocus. Each micro-lens covers two autofocus pixels, comparing the left and right phases to achieve the correct focus. ISOCELL JN1 has upgraded its autofocus feature with Double Super PD which doubles the density of autofocus pixels over the sensor from 1/32 to 1/16. As a result, Double Super PD delivers faster, more accurate autofocus, even in dark surroundings or when you’re shooting an action-packed scene.

High frame rate
video recordingWhether you want to capture home videos in stunning detail, or shoot a slow-motion scene for your vlog, the ISOCELL JN1 has you covered. Powered by an enhanced readout structure, it supports high frame rate, 4K video recording at 60fps, allowing you to shoot smooth action and slow it down in editing for epic looking slow motion. When shooting in full HD, you can record at 240 frames per second, for even more dramatic slow motion.
