Samsung Electronics is pleased to announce the launch of the industry’s first 5nm EUV processor made expressly to power the next generation of wearables—the Exynos W920. With a built-in 4G Cat.4 LTE modem and Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) L1, the Exynos W920 brings seamless connectivity to your wrist. Is it efficient? Well, it packs two Arm® Cortex®-A55 cores and an Arm Mali™-G68 GPU that boasts 20% more efficient processing and 10x better graphics performance than its predecessor. And because the Exynos squeezes all of these goodies into the smallest package currently available for wearables[1] (which also includes LPDDR4 memory and embedded multimedia card), it offers smartwatch designers the option to create a sleeker design, or to house a more robust battery.

So what does this mean for you, the wearable wearer? On-the-go LTE connectivity : Outdoor enthusiasts, rejoice! Seamless tracking of location, speed, distance, and altitude are part and parcel of the Exynos W920. Better 3D graphics : The high-performing Arm Mali™-G68 GPU powers faster app lunches, and smoother, more natural interactions with your smartwatch’s visuals. Always-on, battery-saving display : Instead of powering up the main CPU under Always On Display (AOD) mode, the W920 activates a dedicated low-power display processor, the Cortex-M55, reducing display power consumption, for longer battery. And of course, Exynos W920 supports Wear OS on the new Galaxy Watch4 and Watch4 Classic.
[1] The method used is called System-in-Package-embedded Package on Package (SiP-ePoP) configuration, which we assure you is a real term that was clearly thought up by engineers.
