While Samsung Austin Semiconductor is a global company, we know the community connections and partnerships we develop locally are vital to our growth as well as the region’s growth. In our commitment to being a good corporate citizen, we recently hosted two “Friend-chip” events to recognize and celebrate the dozens of organizations that Samsung Austin Semiconductor partners with in Travis and Williamson Counties. “We believe that continued partnerships and initiatives with organizations such as yourselves will be vital to supporting the community ecosystem that continues to grow and expand along with Samsung,” Jon Taylor, corporate vice president of Fab Engineering and public affairs, said, at one of the events. In 2023, as part of our Samsung Gives initiative, Samsung Austin Semiconductor donated $3.2 million to 76 area community organizations.

Austin-area In 2023, Samsung Austin Semiconductor invested $1.7 million into 32 community organizations serving Austin, Manor and Travis County. The organizations range from environmental to two large school districts and higher education. “When you talk about shaping future generations, our school districts are very important to that,” Michele Glaze, Samsung Austin Semiconductor director of communications and community affairs, said at the Austin-area event. “As part of our grant, Manor Independent School District hired a licensed psychiatrist to help the teachers. With the Austin Ed Fund, we’re helping with innovation grants for teachers.” Samsung Austin Semiconductor believes being a good corporate citizen is about co-prosperity. We want to make sure the communities in which we call home, grow and thrive along with us. “We look forward to a lot more years in Austin and continuing to grow these partnerships,” Kelly Ballard, Samsung Austin Semiconductor community affairs manager, said. “We are expanding in Taylor, but our facility in Austin is here, we will continue to be here and we will continue to be the same community partner as we have been for 27 years.” Through our partnerships this year, we have been able to impact the lives of more than 1.5 million people; 30% of whom are K-12 students. 2023 Community Partners – Austin, Manor, Travis County

Taylor-area Nearly 100 guests attended the “Friend-chip” event in Taylor, Texas, including the city’s mayor, other elected officials and Samsung’s executive vice president of the Taylor Project, Jeffrey Go. “I believe this project will be life-changing for Samsung and for everyone here and for generations to come,” Go said during the event. “We know that your organizations are also providing life-changing services for your friends, families and neighbors in Taylor. We want to celebrate the great work that each of you are doing in Taylor and for the citizens of Taylor.” In 2023, Samsung Austin Semiconductor supported 44 community organizations serving Taylor and Eastern Williamson County with the investment totaling $1.5 million. “As we embarked on discussions with Samsung in early 2021, one of the things we kept coming back to was strong partnerships, including how engaged Samsung would be if they were to come to Taylor… certainly they’ve lived up to the billing and we’re appreciative of it,” Taylor Mayor Brandt Rydell said. The civic and community organizations we partner with in the Taylor-area vary in size, from Taylor Independent School District to nonprofits that provide access to food, mental health and workforce development. “I’m particularly appreciative of Samsung for their generosity and enabling these organizations to continue their missions to continue to make Taylor a thriving and more equitable community,” added Rydell.
