Mobile processors put the “smart” in the smartphone. Samsung’s Exynos processors are leading the globe in innovation and performance, with 5G modems and Neural Processing Units (NPU) integrated to take on the 5G and AI era. High-performance gaming, complex multitasking, and 5G communications — all possible with just a small chip.

Faster speeds
Less energy
Enhanced performance

Our Exynos processors are integrated with a variety of functions, including the CPU, GPU, Multi-format Codec (MFC), Image Signal Processor (ISP), display, and security — along with an NPU and Digital Signal Processor (DSP) for AI and of course the 5G modem.

The AI engine has 26 tera-operations-per-second (TOPS) of computing power to allow smartphones to run AI processing on-device, rather than from the cloud. And with our 5G modem, 5G communications can also be low power. Our octa-core CPU and latest GPU strike a balance between performance and energy efficiency for a seamless, vivid, and long-lasting mobile experience. We also integrated a high-performance Image Signal Processor (ISP) that can process up to 200-megapixel images and 8K recording and media.

All of this was designed around our philosophy of low power.

Our core design philosophy is
reducing energy consumption

When developing our Exynos processors,
reducing energy consumption was one of our main goals.

Samsung was the first in the industry to develop an octa-core CPU supporting big.LITTLE technology, which maximizes both computing performance and power efficiency. We have also dedicated our latest products to low power, developing a tri-cluster octa-core CPU while also developing efficient schedulers.

We are working to improve the GPU’s multi-core architecture for high-quality graphics while lowering the operating voltage. Integrating the 5G modem was another action taken to reduce power consumption. Creating a silky smooth and long-running mobile experience, Exynos processors are designed to better our daily lives, as well as the planet.

Longer battery life,
lower carbon emissions.

This is why we work toward
power efficiency.

Profilers

AMIGO is made up of profilers that collect
CPU, GPU, MIF,
FPS and DTM data.

It collects the active ratio, frequency, and temperature of each IP as well as the frames-per-second (FPS) and screen refresh rate. Main Controller. The main controller analyzes the collected data and determines which IPs to raise or suppress in order to achieve the target FPS or reduce power. DVFS Drivers. When an IP is identified, the main controller changes the frequency of the selected IP using the DVFS (Dynamic Voltage & Frequency Scaling) driver.

By applying the latest in mobile processor architecture design technology, we deliver high performance while minimizing energy use. And behind this upgrade is the innovative 5nm EUV process, which reduces power consumption by 20% more than the previous 7nm process. We were also able to dramatically reduce battery consumption with AMIGO (Advanced Multi-IP Governor), a solution that optimizes energy efficiency.
