Samsung Austin Semiconductor continued to strengthen its commitment to environmental stewardship and responsible manufacturing in 2025, marking significant progress across its Austin operations while extending its Environmental, Health, Safety and Sustainability (EHS&S) programs to its Taylor campus.

The company’s 2025 Environmental, Health, Safety and Sustainability Report highlights a year of operational improvements, progress toward long-term sustainability goals and initiatives designed to protect employees, the surrounding community and the environment.

Advancing environmental sustainability

Samsung Austin Semiconductor continued to make progress toward its environmental goals in 2025, achieving its annual internal reduction targets for water consumption, electricity use, natural gas use and greenhouse gas emissions.

Cross-functional teams worked to identify opportunities to improve manufacturing efficiency, optimize resource use and reduce the environmental impact of operations. These efforts support the company’s long-term sustainability roadmap, including its goal of achieving net-zero Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2050.

Protecting water resources

Water conservation remains a key priority for Samsung Austin Semiconductor, particularly in Central Texas, where responsible water management is essential to the region’s long-term resilience.

The company is working toward achieving Net Positive Water Impact by 2031 at its Austin campus and by 2029 at its Taylor campus. Its goals also include reaching a water recycling rate of 58% in Austin by 2030 and 30% in Taylor. In 2025, the Austin campus recycled 1.05 billion gallons of water.

At the Taylor campus, there is a 26-acre site dedicated to wastewater treatment and water recycling. The water recycling facility can treat 10 million gallons per day and can reclaim 8.5 million gallons per day.

In 2025, Samsung Austin Semiconductor launched a partnership with The Meadows Center for Water and the Environment↗ to support its journey toward Net Positive Water Impact. The collaboration adds to the company’s efforts to address water stewardship through operational improvements and broader environmental engagement.

Through continued attention to water efficiency, recycling and responsible management, the company aims to reduce its impact on local water resources while supporting the needs of its advanced manufacturing operations.

Reducing waste and managing energy responsibly

Waste reduction and energy efficiency are additional pillars of Samsung Austin Semiconductor’s sustainability strategy.

In 2025, the company received the Gold Zero Waste to Landfill certification at its Austin campus, reflecting at least 95% of waste recycled or reused. The company is working toward a waste recycling rate of 99.5% by 2030, while pursuing improvements in waste management and resource recovery.

Samsung Austin Semiconductor’s energy strategy includes alignment with RE100 standards through renewable energy credits and virtual power purchase agreements at its Austin and Taylor sites, alongside ongoing efforts to reduce electricity consumption.

At the Taylor campus, more than 3,600 solar panels have the capacity to generate nearly 3 million kWh per year, covering a portion of energy usage in the Taylor office building.

These initiatives reflect the company’s broader approach to sustainability: identifying practical improvements throughout manufacturing and building environmental considerations into operational planning.

Building a sustainable future in Taylor

As Samsung Austin Semiconductor continues developing its Taylor campus, environmental and safety considerations are being incorporated into construction, commissioning and preparations for future operations.

The company’s approach is designed to carry established EHS&S practices into its expanding Central Texas presence. By integrating safety programs, resource management strategies and environmental standards early in the process, Samsung Austin Semiconductor is working to establish a strong foundation for responsible operations at the campus.
