“CES 2020”, the world’s largest electronics show, will be hosted by the city of Las Vegas, U.S. in January 2020. Ahead of the event, the U.S. Consumer Technology Association (CTA) announced the winners of the CES Innovation Award, given to the most innovative products and technologies in 28 sectors. Among the winners were three semiconductor entries from the Samsung Electronics DS Division. Presenting Samsung Electronics’ premium SSD lineup for the 2020 semiconductor market: The NVMe SSD 980 PRO 1TB, the portable SSD T7 Touch 1TB, and the PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD 30.72TB (PM1733). “NVMe SSD 980 PRO 1TB” and “Portable SSD T7 Touch 1TB”

The “NVMe SSD 980 PRO 1TB” is an M.2 spec SSD based on the latest PCIe 4.0 interface, and is the highest-performing consumer SSD ever. The “Portable SSD T7 Touch 1TB” is an external SSD supporting USB 3.2 (Gen2) and the NVMe interface, with fingerprint recognition for improved security and convenience as well as speeds around 9.5 times faster than generic external HDDs. The “PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD 30.72TB (PM1733)”: The highest-performing, highest capacity SSD ever

The “PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD 30.72TB (PM1733)” is a high-performance, high-capacity SSD for high-end servers. This is the first server SSD in the industry based on the PCIe Gen4 interface. While previous products using the PCIe Gen3 interface are limited to continuous read speeds of 3,500MB/s, the PM1733 harnesses NAND performance better, providing 6,400MB/s continuous reading speeds and 3,800MB/s continuous writing speeds.

At 30.72TB, it is the highest-capacity server NVMe SSD in the industry. This is more than double the previous generation of products, which maxed out at 15.36TB. The groundbreaking product further widens the “super-gap” between Samsung and competitors in terms of both performance and capacity.

The PM1733 also supports dual ports, improving computer system availability and stability. The PM1733 can be connected to two storage controllers, meaning that if one storage controller becomes faulty, the other storage controller can continue processing data. As we live in the age of Big Data with massive amounts of data being generated and processed daily, SSDs create great customer value by providing ever-faster performance with high power efficiency. Samsung Electronics’ market-leading SSD solutions stand at the vanguard of a new data storage era. Samsung Electronics’ award-winning products will be unveiled at the CES 2020 event scheduled for January 7th to 10th next year, alongside some of the company’s various future technologies and products. If you’re wondering what the 2020 semiconductor market will look like, then Samsung Electronics has many of the answers.
