Small pixels are not normally known for precise color reproduction, but Samsung’s ISOCELL Plus technology makes it possible for the sensor’s 0.7μm-sized pixels to produce vibrant images. The technology does this by isolating individual pixels with special materials, allowing more light to be collected by the micro-lens, and enhancing each pixel’s color fidelity and light sensitivity.

It works by combining multiple images at different levels of exposure to enhance your photos’ dynamic range, and it does so quickly and cleanly, with absolutely no loss of resolution.

Tetrapixel

Because good lighting is what often separates a professional-looking photo from a mediocre one, the ISOCELL JD1 utilizes Samsung’s Tetrapixel technology to capture as much light as possible – even in low-light environments. Using a special color filter array, Tetrapixel combines four pixels into one to absorb more light in dark conditions, resulting in brighter images with less noise. In bright light, the ISOCELL JD1 makes use of all 32 million of its pixels to produce incredibly sharp and detailed photos.

Smart-ISO

The ISOCELL JD1 takes the guesswork out of selecting the optimal ISO for your shot by making it easy to adjust your camera’s light sensitivity. It does this by utilizing Samsung’s Smart-ISO technology, which automatically switches between a high ISO and a low ISO to produce detailed shots in any lighting conditions. In low-light environments, the sensor switches to a high ISO to express details in the shadows. In bright settings, it utilizes a low ISO to prevent oversaturation and express details in highlights.
