As we wrap up another milestone year, Samsung Austin Semiconductor teams are celebrating the season of giving by delivering holiday cheer to 52 families in Manor and Taylor.

This holiday season during the company’s annual Adopt-a-Family initiative, 28 teams purchased gifts for 91 Manor Independent School District students and 25 students with the Boys and Girls Club of East Williamson County.

The Etch department bought gifts for three families totaling six children. Jonathan Hardin has helped organize the team’s participation since 2018 and the group’s wrap parties are also a chance for festive team-building.

“Every year, several colleagues seek me out before the donation drive even begins, eager to jump in and share their excitement,” says Hardin. “In our fast‑paced work environment, those gatherings give us a valuable pause to chat about the holidays, swap nostalgic stories and strengthen the camaraderie that makes the Adopt-a-Family program so special.”

“Adopt-a-Family is truly my favorite part of the year. Bringing our entire department together to support families that might otherwise go without help is incredibly rewarding,” adds Hardin.

Michael Karpinski and his teammates from Product and Manufacturing Operations have raised more than $30,000 in the past decade for Adopt-a-Family. This holiday season, they made the holidays bright for seven children.

“Adopt-a-Family really is the highlight of my holidays. There is no excuse why any child should go without gifts, clothing or food - especially at Christmas,” says Karpinski, who has helped lead his team’s efforts for seven years. “It makes me very proud of my coworkers to see what we have been able to accomplish and how much everyone is willing to donate—both in money and time.”

The elves on the Quality and Reliability team were the busiest with a total of eight children they supported.

Lisa Trevino was in charge of making sure all the gifts got to where they needed to go for Quality & Reliability and the Hispanic employee resource group.

“As people start signing up, it’s so heartwarming to see the whole idea come to life. The most special moment for me was when an employee came up and offered to buy everything on one of the family’s wish lists. It felt like a genuine Christmas miracle,” says Trevino. “The ‘thank you’ notes we receive in return always make me tear up.”

Prior to delivering the gifts, the Communications team hosts a wrapping party where teams can show off their wrapping skills and put the finishing touches on the gifts.

A heartfelt thank you to all the employees at Samsung Austin Semiconductor for bringing holiday joy to 116 children and their families in the communities we call home.
