With the explosion of new technology trends, 2023 was one of the most transformative years in recent memory. Thanks to our ongoing investments in advanced new semiconductor and memory technologies, Samsung Semiconductor was extremely well-positioned to deliver solutions to our customers in AI, HPC and more. Here's how our technologies pushed boundaries in 2023. AI: Artificial intelligence was perhaps the biggest tech trend of 2023, and Samsung Semiconductor was right there to help our customers make their AI visions a reality. Some of the innovations we announced this year included advanced high-bandwidth memory products like HBM3E Shinebolt and HBM-PIM (Processing-in-Memory), implementation of new standards like Low Power Compression Attached Memory Modules (LPCAMM), and the industry’s highest-capacity 32-gigabit 12nm class DDR5 DRAM. HPC: AI is just one of the many applications of the larger enterprise trend of high-powered computation (HPC), which also include video transcoding, machine learning, cloud computing, and more. To help address the unprecedented data crunch experienced by our customers, 2023 saw Samsung Semiconductor announce the industry’s first 128-gigabyte DRAM to support Compute Express Link 2.0. The latest product in our roadmap of next-generation innovations based on the new CXL standard, the CXL Memory Expander allows existing data centers to enable extremely high memory capacity to better meet the demands of HPC.
