CCD Image Sensor Image sensor with a CCD (Charge Coupled Device) structure. An image sensor is a device that converts light received through a lens into an electric signal. Depending on the application and the manufacturing process, image sensors can be categorized into CCD image sensors and CMOS image sensors. CCD image sensors transmit electronic signals directly, and are fabricated using analog processes. While CCD image sensors have an advantage of reduced noise compared to CMOS image sensors, they consume larger amounts of power, and involve more complicated fabrication processes, and are therefore less competitive in price.
