First Korean company to set up
an on-site COVID-19 screening clinic

Samsung Semiconductor tries hard to prevent the potential spread of various infectious diseases. We were the first Korean company to set up an on-site screening clinic, and we offer vaccinations to our employees going on
overseas business trips. Every year, we also offer free flu vaccines to employees who
sign up.

Samsung Semiconductor’s on-site COVID-19 testing facilities allowed both Samsung Semiconductor and partner employees to get tested swiftly and easily. As of October 2021, a total of three testing centers are in operation at Hwaseong, Suwon and Pyeongtaek. The centers are staffed with doctors, nurses and clinical pathologists who provide consultations and collect samples. The test results generally come out within 24 hours.

  • Samsung Semiconductor offers annual health checkups to employees every
    year

    In accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act, Samsung Semiconductor provides health checkups to all employees. Depending on their age, office workers are given comprehensive or general checkups. These comprehensive and general checkups are conducted every other year. To make it easier for employees to go for their checkups, Samsung Semiconductor runs a medical health center in the H1, where up to 150 physical exams are carried out a day.

    Samsung Semiconductor has easily accessible, on-site clinics for employees and partner employees. At seven sites in Giheung, Hwaseong, DSR, Suwon, Pyeongtaek, Onyang and Cheonan, employees have access to on-site clinics as well as additional clinics for dental, otolaryngology, dermatology, internal medicine and Korean medicine as well as a pharmacy.

    Manufacturing semiconductors is a complicated process. And to continuously improve the safety of chips, we continue to carry out research and development. As the first in the semiconductor industry, SHRI, or the Samsung Health Research Institute, was established in 2010 to carry out research on improving safety in the workplace and to improve the health of employees. Studies include potential hazardous substances, work environment and occupational dynamics. Since 2010, around 20 studies have been conducted every year.
