Samsung Austin Semiconductor’s two campuses pump $19.8B into Central Texas economy in 2024

The Austin and Taylor campuses also supported more than 38,000 jobs in the region.

AUSTIN, Texas—April 21, 2025—Despite a challenging semiconductor market, Samsung Austin Semiconductor’s campuses in Austin and Taylor generated $19.8 billion into the Central Texas economy in 2024.

The 2024 Economic Impact Report is a comprehensive third-party report that determines economic contribution and impact generated through operations of Samsung Austin Semiconductor’s two fabs in northeast Austin and the construction of the manufacturing facility in Taylor.

According to the report, the two campuses supported 38,498 jobs, resulting in $2.6 billion in workers’ salaries.

Since 1996, Samsung Austin Semiconductor has invested $18 billion in operating two fabs at the Austin campus—making it one of the largest direct foreign investments in United States history. Construction on the new Taylor campus started in 2022 and is ongoing.
 

Key findings from the report include:
 
  • Direct and Indirect Employment: Samsung Austin Semiconductor supported the creation of 4,907 direct jobs and an additional 11,291 indirect jobs in Austin and 18,636 direct and indirect construction jobs in Taylor.
     
  • Jobs and Salaries: The Austin and Taylor campuses supported 38,498 jobs in the area along with $2.6 billion in workers' salaries.
     
  • Taxes: The Austin and Taylor campuses generated $220.5 million in annual revenues for local taxing districts.
     
  • Community Giving: In 2024, Samsung Austin Semiconductor supported dozens of community organizations in Austin, Manor, Taylor, Travis County and Williamson County through charitable contributions totaling $3 million.
     
  • Workforce Development: As one of the most advanced semiconductor manufacturing facilities in the world, Samsung Austin Semiconductor is focused on investing in the future of the Central Texas workforce by promoting job awareness and readiness programs that identify, inform and inspire interest in advanced manufacturing careers. In 2024, Samsung Austin Semiconductor invested $5.65 million in its 5-Star workforce development plan, including contributions to local institutions such as the University of Texas at Austin, Austin Community College and more.
