Forty Manor ISD families receive gifts, holiday joy from Adopt-a-Family

  • mail
Every December, Samsung Austin Semiconductor employees donate their time and money to adopt families in need to make sure they have a great holiday season. This season, we adopted 40 Manor Independent School District families, including 119 kids. Children requested everything from Barbie Dreamhouses to headphones and even bicycles. Once the gifts were collected, more than 100 employees spent an afternoon wrapping and bagging all the gifts ahead of Santa's special delivery. Melissa Zapala says the Adopt-a-Family program has been one of her favorite ways to give back in the seven years she's been with us. "A family I met in 2018 was a very nice family," remembered Zapala. "The kids were super happy to receive so many gifts and the mom was so happy she actually cried." Along with the Adopt-a-Family program, Samsung Austin Semiconductor also has a Season of Sharing fundraiser to raise money to help families from nine school districts who are facing financial struggles. Donations help with items such as utility bills, groceries, clothing, etc.
