Gone are the days when it’s necessary to pack a separate video camcorder when going on holiday. Mobile devices are now powerful enough to make vivid recordings of experiences that’s fit for high-production films. It is no surprise that even some professional filmmakers are turning to smartphones to realize their ideas.

High-quality Video Creation on the Go Guided by the mission to inspire, Samsung designed the Exynos 9 Series (9810) processor to unleash creativity and empower users to capture the world as they envision. The Exynos 9810 enables users to record and playback videos with extreme detail. Upgraded to support encoding 4K UHD resolution videos at a high frame rate, the processor can produce high-resolution videos in slow-motion. Fast moving objects can be captured in minute detail, preserving experiences and memories that the naked eye could miss. Processing 4K UHD content with a high frame rate requires up to 4x more data bandwidth than full HD video content. That’s why the Exynos 9810 supports LPDDR4x, a faster and power efficient DRAM, for wider memory bandwidth of up to 34GB/s. The image sub-system of the Exynos 9810 is also upgraded to support 10-bit output for video encoding path with faster auto-focusing and diverse image quality enhancing features for extra sharpness. The advanced image processing algorithms are used to boost the quality of each frame by reducing noise and generating richer color and wider dynamic range. On top of all this, the Exynos 9810 features an advanced audio sub-system which includes a dedicated processor and cache memory that supports HD audio processing of up to 32bit/384kHz. Realize Your Vision in 4K UHD For a smartphone to create 4K UHD content, its processor needs to compress videos with codecs so they can be stored and transferred efficiently.

The advanced MFC (Multi-Format Codec) embedded in the Exynos 9810 supports VP9 codec and high efficiency video coding (HEVC), which can compress a file to about half the size of AVC without sacrificing any visual quality. This means users do not have to worry about running out of storage even when they record 4K UHD videos. And the MFC (Multi-Format Codec) enables mobile devices to capture color like never before. It supports 10-bit color that generates 1,024 different tones for each primary color resulting in rich tone of video with 1.07 billion colors, which is 64 times more than the 8-bit color format. The MFC’s hardware accelerated video processing also uses less power, giving users more time to create mesmerizing video content. See the World Differently Moving images are the lingua franca of our time. We often communicate with one another through videos on social media, while watching multimedia content is often the way we absorb new ideas and encounter new experiences. Engineered to match the demands of our time, the Exynos 9810 allows users to enjoy 4K UHD videos on a bigger screen effortlessly. Thanks to its upgraded hardware design, the processor’s advanced display IP supports Wi-Fi connection for 4K UHD content with low latency. 4K UHD videos stored in a mobile device can be watched on a UHD TV without a wired connection. Equipped with a cutting-edge LTE modem, the Exynos 9810 will make stuttering online streaming and broadcasting a thing of the past. As the LTE modem which supports up to category 18 for 1.2Gbps downlink speed with 6x carrier aggregation, the processor is built to cope with the ever-changing multimedia landscape. The Exynos 9810 will be able to deliver immersive content right to users’ hands seamlessly even as multimedia content increase in complexity rapidly.
