A SATA interface is a type of computer data connection method for data transfer on a hard disk drive (HDD) or an optical disc drive (ODD). It was developed to replace the parallel transmission interface (PATA) that has been used since the early development era of PCs. The SATA interface is more stable and more compact than a PATA interface and offers other improved features. In particular, the data transfer speed is also increased, so currently, the theoretical data transfer speed limit is 600MB/s. However, as the improved specifications of the PCIe interface have overcome the SATA interface’s data transfer speed limit, the market trend has also been changing. A PCIe interface’s maximum data transfer speed is 3GB/s.
