RAM (Random Access Memory)

  • mail
RAM (Random Access Memory) Memory that can record and save data to read or edit. Memory semiconductors for saving data are largely categorized into RAM and ROM. RAM is short for “Random Access Memory.” It can read saved data and recall other information. RAM is volatile memory where the data disappears once the power is turned off. The data saved on RAM is only valid while the computer is in operation. Once the computer’s power is off, the data on the RAM vanishes. Therefore, RAM is mainly used for temporary loading purposes for the main memory unit or other applications, as well as for saving temporary data. Some of the most common RAMs are the DRAM that requires periodic refreshing to maintain its data and the SRAM that saves the data as long as the power is on. ※ Types of memory semiconductors
