Phosphor

  • mail
Phosphor A material used to change the color of light discharged by an LED chip. As LED chips emit light of a specific wavelength (color) according to the difference in the energy levels of the compounds they are made of, phosphor is required to achieve the desired color of light. For example, phosphors comprised of the three primary colors of light, red, green, and blue, are applied to the inner walls of Braun tubes of TVs or computer monitors. Another example is the use of yellow phosphors in LED chips that emit blue light to achieve white light in white LEDs for lighting.
