In February 2023, China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology declared the 2022 Green Manufacturing List, which selected 112 companies as "Green Supply Chain Management Model Enterprises". Samsung Electronics (Suzhou) Semiconductor Co., Ltd. was successfully chosen to be a part of this list, becoming the one and only company in Suzhou Industrial Park to receive this honor. Following its recognition as a National Green Factory in 2019, Samsung Semiconductor's Suzhou Park has once again been included in China's National Green Manufacturing List. This is a highly recognized accolade acknowledging the long-term commitment that Samsung Semiconductor's Suzhou Park has made towards green development.
What is "Green Supply Chain Management"? "Green Supply Chain Management" refers to the environmental management of the entire process from product design, raw material procurement and production to waste recycling. Creating a green supply chain has a positive effect on a company's ability to avoid regulatory risks and trade barriers, ensure a stable supply of raw materials, and enhance its brand image. Samsung Semiconductor's Suzhou Park has always integrated environmental protection and other green concepts into its management processes, emphasizing the reduction and recycling of resources such as water, energy, and raw materials to minimize environmental risks and increase resource utilization while comprehensively building a green manufacturing system. In order to analyze the environmental impact of its products throughout their life cycles, Samsung Semiconductor has developed a full-life cycle green supply chain management strategy, including supplier management, raw material management, production operations, and coordinated reduction of pollution and carbon emissions. These strategies have been integrated into the company's development plan, with clear green supply chain management objectives in place to ensure a systematic approach. Looking to the future, Samsung Semiconductor will continue to promote the development of green manufacturing enterprises in China, adhere to green and low-carbon development, fulfill its environmental and social responsibilities, and support the goal of achieving emissions peak and carbon neutrality.
