Dual Vertical
Transfer Gate

As pixel size decreases, so does the amount of electrons that a single pixel can absorb, which impacts the quality of color reproduction. To address this, Samsung has developed a unique dual vertical transfer gate (D-VTG) technology that applies two transfer gates per photodiode instead of just one. This dramatically improves signal transfer efficiency and full well capacity. As a result, each ISOCELL HP2 pixel absorbs 33% more electrons than the predecessor. By being able to use more electrons per pixel, color reproduction in bright light conditions is remarkably enhanced.

Capture highlights even in low light. Powered by Tetra²pixel technology, the ISOCELL HP2 merges up to 16 pixels into one, meaning it can operate as a 1.2µm or even a 2.4µm unit pixel. Enhanced low light autofocus with Super QPD enables fast and accurate imaging to capture movement, even in a 1 lux environment such as a room lit by a single candle.

Tetra²pixel Technology

ISOCELL HP2’s Tetra²pixel technology optimizes the pixel array for different light conditions. As light dims the ISOCELL HP2 automatically merges neighboring pixels into one, allowing it to operate as a single 1.2µm-sized pixel with 50MP or 2.4µm-sized pixel with 12.5MP. The pixel binning technology increases the light sensitivity of the pixels, producing clearer low light pictures with less noise.

Focus fast and have a high frame rate, all with one click. Super QPD instantly focuses on objects in motion with high frame rates of 15fps at 200MP. ISOCELL HP2 captures every precious moment just in time with less shutter lag. Snap photos quickly and with ease to spend more time basking in the moment.

  • Super QPD

    With Super QPD, every pixel can detect autofocus information, compared to only 3% of pixels in its 108MP predecessor. Each micro-lens covers four adjacent autofocus pixels, which allows the sensor to detect movement both in the horizontal and vertical direction. This enables the ISOCELL HP2 to focus on moving objects much more quickly and accurately.

  • Reduced shutter lag

    With frame rate improved by two folds in 200MP mode, ISOCELL HP2 reduces shutter lag by half for faster picture taking experience when compared to the 200MP predecessor. With higher frame rates and less shutter lag, do not miss the scene you want to capture.

Discover the details in every hue. The dual slope gain technology and Smart-ISO Pro create images and videos bursting with colors. Since these technologies are single frame-based, experience less motion blur in the final result. Thanks to the dual slope gain in particular, ISOCELL HP2 can create an HDR image as high as 50MP.

  • Dual Slope Gain

    Introduced in the ISOCELL HP2 for the first time in Samsung’s image sensor lineup, dual slope gain technology takes HDR for high resolution images to the next level. In all pixels, it applies two different conversion values when light is converted into a digital signal. While HDR was supported in 12.5MP mode at most, the ISOCELL HP2 can produce HDR images with resolution as high as 50MP without the aid of a mobile processor for the first time in the industry.

  • Smart-ISO Pro

    The ISOCELL HP2’s Smart-ISO Pro merges two readouts created in one single exposure. It merges either High ISO or Mid ISO with Low ISO to ensure the crisp images are captured. For example, when there is an extreme lighting difference in one scene, Smart-ISO Pro merges High ISO and Low ISO to highlight details both in bright and dark areas.
