108 Million Pixels

Capture extremely detailed images

ISOCELL HMX packs in 108 million pixels to capture and produce well-defined image with the finest detail. With 108 million individual pixels making up a single image, a photo can stay sharp even when zoomed in or cropped. To incorporate such large number of pixels, the ISOCELL HMX utilizes small 0.8um-sized pixels and is the first mobile image sensor to adopt a large 1/1.33-inch size, which absorbs more light in low-lit settings than smaller sensors, making it a highly ideal solution for those looking to take professional grade photography.

ISOCELL Plus

Remarkable color accuracy and balance

To capture and produce color correctly, it’s very important for each tiny 0.8um-sized pixel absorbs enough light information without being contaminated by the neighboring pixels. For accurate color reproduction, the ISOCELL HMX pixels are built with Samsung’s ISOCELL Plus technology, an advanced pixel isolation technology that minimizes optical loss and cross-talk by placing a barrier around each pixel.

Smart-ISO

Optimal dynamic range with less noise

When the light information is acquired by the pixels, it goes through a fixed amount of analog gain, or a signal amplifier, then converted into a digital signal via ADC (analog digital convertor). While the gain helps to improve picture quality, especially in low lighted environment, a fixed single native ISO has its limits. The ISOCELL HMX comes with two native ISOs, instead of one, a low and a high ISO allowing more flexibility in amount of gain applied. The Smart-ISO technology intelligently selects the level of amplifier gains according to the illumination of the environment for optimal light-to-electric signal conversion giving camera more versatility in various light environments.

Tetrapixel Technology

Big-pixel like performance in low light

Pictures taken at nighttime sightseeing or in-doors tend to come out blurry or shaky due to limited light available. To enhance low light photography, the ISOCELL HMX transforms the 0.8um pixels into 1.6um pixels with Tetrapixel technology which merges neighboring four pixels to work as one. While the merging reduces the resolution down to 27Mp from 108Mp, transformed 1.6um pixels increases light sensitivity of the sensor allowing better results in low light environment.

Super-PD Auto Focus

Sharper image with fast auto focus

Fast auto-focus not only helps to take sharp and clear photographs, it also allows the camera to take the pictures faster before the precious moment passes by. The ISOCELL HMX adopts Super-PD auto focus, an advanced phase detecting auto focus solution, to offer a precise and faster focusing on still or fast moving objects even in low light settings.
