Samsung Semiconductor is committed to recycling waste that is difficult to recycle through continuous technological development. We are actively exploring and developing technologies to extract added value from waste.

Let's take a look at Samsung Semiconductor's efforts to give new value to aluminum waste left over from phone production and use it in the T7 Shield external case.

The armor aluminum frame used in phones starts with a single metal block and only about 10% is actually used. To reuse the aluminum waste generated in this process, Samsung Semiconductor conducted recycling tests on aluminum waste and applied 'Re-Armored aluminum'. This material was used in the production of the T7 Shield case, recycling 7,300 kg of aluminum from September 2023 to December 2024.

We continue to make efforts to reduce plastic packaging in our products. In 2020, we transitioned from plastic trays to paper trays for consumer SSDs. We completed transitions to paper trays for portable SSDs and Heatsink products in 2023 and for 2.5'' products in 2024. We plan to expand our transition to paper trays for M.2 SSD products in 2025.

Additionally, we received ISO-14021 based recycled material certification from Intertek¹⁾ for the recycled content in the plastic trays of component products in 2024.
