In 5G, the modem supports mmWave and sub-6GHz spectrums, as well as NSA and SA networks. With up to 8-carrier aggregation (8CA), it provides downlink speed of up to 7.35-gigabits per second (Gbps) in mmWave and 5.1Gbps in sub-6-gigahertz (GHz). Together with enhanced power efficiency enabled by the 7-nanometer (nm) extreme ultraviolet (EUV) process and support of 5G and virtually all legacy networks, Exynos Modem 5123 sets a new standard for high-speed, high-volume 5G connectivity.

Multi-mode modem

Multiple modes in a single chip

In addition to 5G, Exynos Modem 5123 supports a wide range of legacy networks, including 2G (GSM, CDMA), 3G (WCDMA, TD-SCDMA, HSPA), and 4G (LTE-FDD, LTE-TDD). Support for legacy networks all come in a single chip, meaning there is no need for additional modems and adds flexibility to device designs. In LTE mode, the modem provides enhanced speed and features, delivering downlink speed of up to 3.0Gbps via 8CA and supports up to 1024-QAM. By offering multi-network support, the Exynos Modem 5123 promises to bring seamless connectivity to everyone.

Manufactured with Samsung’s cutting-edge 7nm EUV process, Exynos Modem 5123 provides enhanced performance with lower power consumption. EUV technology creates finer circuits and denser patterns with extreme ultraviolet lithography, enabling the modem to integrate more components inside the chip for faster, more energy-efficient performance. The result is a 30 percent improvement on average in power efficiency compared to its predecessor.
