From the moment you wake up and check your phone to watch videos right before bed, everything you do needs chips — and to make these chips, you need energy.

What kind of energy? Instead of fossil fuels or nuclear power, Samsung uses renewable energy when making our chips. Renewable energy is energy that can be used over and over without creating pollution, like sunlight and wind. Our focus on renewable energy sources helps to keep our future looking bright.

We ensure our sites

100% renewable energy,

keeping our pledge
to sustainable

By joining the RE100 initiative in 2022, Samsung Semiconductor has pledged to transition to using 100% renewable energy-based electricity. Starting with our US and Chinese business sites that were converted to 100% renewable energy in 2020, we aim to contribute to reducing Scope 2 emissions from electricity use by expanding the use of renewable energy across all of our global business sites by 2050.
