ROM (Read Only Memory) Memory in which the recorded data can only be read and cannot be edited. Memory semiconductors for saving data are largely categorized into RAM and ROM. ROM is short for “Read Only Memory.” Stored data can be read quickly once saved but cannot be recorded or edited. ROM is non-volatile memory, meaning the data saved does not disappear even when the power is turned off. ROM is classified into MASK ROM, PROM, EPROM, Flash Memory, and more, depending on the method of re-writing and erasing data. MASK ROM is memory that has data recorded on it during the manufacturing process, meaning users cannot modify anything on it. PROM allows the user to record data once, while EPROM allows the user to delete some data to write new data when needed.
