Image Sensor

  • mail
Image Sensor An element that converts the appearance of a subject into an electric image signal. An image sensor converts light (image data) received through a camera lens into a digital signal. That is to say, an image sensor is a semiconductor that stores and transmits image signals to allow for images taken to be viewed through a display device. It serves a function similar to the film in a film camera. Depending on the application and the manufacturing process, image sensors can be categorized into CCD (charge coupled device) image sensors and CMOS (complementary metal oxide semiconductor) image sensors. Image sensors find their way into a broad range of digital devices, from smartphones and tablet PCs to high-resolution digital cameras.
