Samsung Electronics Presents Next-generation Memory Solutions to Settle Challenges in the Big Data Era at FMS 2022

Samsung Electronics presented next-generation memory solutions as well as the blueprint that will guide the future of the big data era at Flash Memory Summit 2022 held at the Santa Clara Convention Center in California. □ "Memory Solutions Navigating the Big Data Era” Keynote Speech and 13 Tech Sessions At the event held August 2-4, keynote speaker and Executive Vice President of Memory Solution & Product Development at Samsung Electronics, Jin-Hyeok Choi presented on the topic of “Memory Solutions Navigating the Big Data Era.” Choi announced the company’s vision to produce a petabyte-level storage in the next decade. In addition, various solutions and technologies including Memory-Semantic SSD, CXL protocol-applied product, PM1743 that supports PCIe 5.0, and Telemetry service for stable storage management were introduced, drawing the interest of the attendees and media. In addition to the keynote speech, Samsung Electronics held 13 tech sessions on various topics including data storage strategies, optimizing clouds, machine learning, and storage for AI. Altogether, 16 domestic and foreign speakers presented a total of 17 presentations at the event, previewing what’s to come for the future of storage technology.

▲ Jim Elliott, EVP of Memory Sales at Samsung Electronics America (During introduction speech) □ Record-setting Attendance at Product Booth Demos Samsung Electronics exhibited 15 new products at the company’s booth drawing in a record crowd of nearly 2,300—the largest booth attendance at the event. Especially notable were technologies such as DDR5 RAM, PCIe 5.0 PM1743 as well as an exhibition of 9-core memory solutions—Petabyte Storage and Smart SSD—installed in the Supermicro 4U and the Poseidon servers, directly demonstrating impressive performance of the technologies. Also of note, Executive Vice President of Samsung Electronics and event speaker, Jinhyuk Choi was awarded the Innovation Leader Award in the SSD and Computing Storage categories by IT Brand Plus. Choi’s awards were in recognition of his achievements in technological innovation as well as his overall contribution to the industry. Promising more enhanced technologies and products to come next year, Choi emphasized the importance of joint action in building new ecosystems. “It’s essential to have close cooperation among companies in the storage ecosystem to face the oncoming wave of exponential data growth in the future,” said Choi. “We are excited to navigate these challenging tides together through joint cooperation with our partners and associates, developing the core technologies on which our future ecosystems will be built on.”
