The Exynos 9 Series 9810 Processor Redefines Boundaries

  • mail
Built for power and efficiency, the Exynos 9 Series 9810 processor delivers powerful potential for mobile computing, offering smart device users an immersive and seamless experience, free of concern about sputtering connections and battery drain. Samsung’s latest premium mobile processor offers a glimpse into the future of computing on the go, where connectivity, intelligence, and immersive content are all delivered in a single package. Built for True Multitasking Selected as an honoree in embedded technologies at the CES 2018 Innovation Awards, Exynos 9810 is equipped with a quad-core third-generation custom CPU, which reaches 2.9 GHz in speed, and four other cores that are designed to optimize power efficiency. Compared to its predecessor, the CPU’s single-core performance has doubled, while multi-core performance has improved by nearly 40 percent, putting greater processing powers in the hands of those who want a better multitasking experience. The mobile processor is also built using Samsung’s second-generation 10 nanometer FinFET process, meaning all of this can be done while consuming less power. Added Intelligence This greater performance and power efficiency also comes with more complex features that will improve user experience with deep-learning-based software. The neural-network-based technology gives the processor the ability to identify items or individuals in photos for image searches and categorization. Exynos 9810 also comes with a depth-sensing feature that can scan a user’s face in 3D for hybrid face detection and better security. Immersive and Mesmerizing Capturing the right moment on camera has everything to do with isolating the right details and delivering colors that will pop. With Exynos 9810, smartphone users not only can experience 4K UHD recording and playback, but also enjoy an expanded color palette that offers 1.07 billion options – a 64-fold increase from the previous 8-bit color format. This is thanks to the advanced multi-format codec (MFC), which supports 10-bit high-efficiency video coding (HEVC) and VP9 codecs, enabling them to render 1,024 tones for each primary color. Exynos 9810 also features a dual image signal processor (dual-ISP) that can support up to four image sensors such as a dual camera in the back and a camera and iris sensor in the front. The dual ISP includes one with high performance and another with strong efficiency, providing the perfect balance between capturing breathtaking images and keeping things light on the battery. Not only that, when it comes to processing graphics, the new mobile processor has upped its game by 20 percent, with the latest ARM Mali-G72 GPU that delivers more realistic and vivid graphics while using less power. The GPU uses ARM’s second-generation Bifrost architecture, specifically with the mobile gamer in mind. This enables high fidelity mobile gaming and gives VR headsets the capacity to roll out immersive images that fully encapsulate users. Unparalleled Connectivity The unparalleled connectivity of Exynos 9810 also offers seamless access to this immersive content. As an industry leader, Samsung rolled out a 1.2 gigabit per second (Gbps) LTE modem embedded in Exynos 9810, which supports category 18 with 6CA (carrier aggregation) in downlink to improve data transfer stability. With a downlink speed of 1.2 Gbps and uplink of 200 Mbps, the new processor provides the foundation for streaming and broadcasting UHD videos as well as virtual reality content. For an improved rate of transfer, the ultra-fast modem comes with 4x4 MIMO (Multiple-Input, Multiple-Output), a higher-order 256 QAM (Quadrature Amplitude Modulation) scheme, and employs enhanced Licensed-Assisted Access (eLAA) technology. Dedicated to Security But all of these added benefits must be accompanied by state-of-the-art technology that will take security to the next level. By combining binary and enhanced DRAM encryption, Exynos 9810 can safeguard sensitive security software, and protect and isolate internal sub-systems from each other with its firewalls. Leading Innovation The Exynos 9 Series 9810 is considered Samsung’s most innovative mobile processor to date, with its powerful third-generation custom CPU, deep-learning-based software that enables intelligent image processing, and lightning gigabit LTE modem. As the smart device industry responds to stronger demand for greater performance, efficiency, and connectivity, Exynos 9810 will act as a catalyst for innovation and redefine boundaries for mobile computing.
