The Greater Taylor Chamber of Commerce presenting Samsung Austin Semiconductor with the Business of the Month award. Samsung Austin Semiconductor has been recognized by the Greater Taylor Chamber of Commerce as Business of the Month. On Tuesday, Sept. 21, during Samsung Austin Semiconductor’s Friend-chip event in Taylor, Texas, the Greater Taylor Chamber of Commerce presented Samsung Austin Semiconductor with the award. In fact, as the company was celebrating community partners in Taylor, the audience was surprised when the Taylor Chamber of Commerce turned the tables to give Samsung Austin Semiconductor an award. Since the 2021 announcement to build a $17 billion state-of-the-art fabrication facility in Taylor, Samsung Austin Semiconductor has been dedicated to working with neighbors to build community partnerships. Samsung Austin Semiconductor kicked off community giving with $1 million in donations shared amongst four Taylor-focused nonprofits in August 2022. In addition, the company provided $300,000 to Taylor charities in 2022 and more than $1.5 million to organizations supporting the community of Taylor and Williamson County in 2023. A key element for this nomination was engagement with the Taylor Chamber's annual Eastern Williamson County Job Fair and Expo in which Samsung Austin Semiconductor sponsored and attended. Plus, the company partnered with 13 of its vendors who also participated in the event. During the past two summers, Samsung Austin Semiconductor has hosted four dozen interns from the Taylor Independent School District. The letter from the Chamber states, "through internships, you impart valuable skills and instill the importance of corporate responsibility in the next generation of leaders. The Business of the Month award recognizes Samsung Austin Semiconductor’s impact on the Taylor community now and in the future. This award also includes a nomination for the Business of the Year award that will be presented at the Chamber and Community Awards Banquet in January 2024. Corporate citizenship is integrated into Samsung’s corporate values and this kind of engagement is the only logical step as we continue to work towards becoming the world’s best foundry.
