Extraction Efficiency

  • mail
Extraction Efficiency The ratio between photons entering an LED and the photons discharged outwards. The higher the extraction efficiency, the brighter the LED. For example, if the extraction efficiency is 70%, this means that 70% of the generated light exits the LED, while 30% of this light remains inside the LED and disappears. As the extraction efficiency of an LED is greatly influenced by the shape, surface shape, and structure of the chip, as well as the packaging type, these factors need to be taken into careful consideration when designing an LED.
