The holiday spirit was in full display at Samsung Austin Semiconductor’s annual Adopt-a-Family wrapping party on Dec. 13. With holiday music playing in the background, Samsung employees immersed themselves in a flurry of bows, ribbons, wrapping paper and gift bags with some needing to flex their engineering skills to wrap unwieldy gifts.

After several hours, the Samsung Austin Semiconductor elves wrapped more than 1,000 gifts for 45 Manor Independent School District (ISD) families. On Christmas morning, 143 children will wake up to bicycles, LEGO sets, books, basketballs and more.

Lisa Trevino, chair of Samsung Austin Semiconductor’s Hispanic employee resource group (ERG), coordinated donations for three families with the help of the Hispanic ERG, Pride ERG and Customer Quality department. To accommodate a child with special needs, Trevino turned to sensory and educational toys to fulfill the child’s wish list.

“I was very impressed with the participation from the teams. We were able to provide the kids with name-brand clothes and shoes. We also had plenty of employees help wrap the gifts,” Trevino said.

For senior engineer Nitin Narang, it was his first time participating in Adopt-a-Family.

“Helping families in need during the holidays was a beautiful way to bring joy to a child's life. It’s a great way to spread love, kindness and happiness—especially to those who wouldn't have gifts otherwise,” Narang said.

When Manor ISD’s Mayra Hernandez came to pick up the gifts, her team was speechless.

“We got out of the vehicle and saw that it’s triple the amount that we’ve received,” exclaimed Hernandez, who leads the district’s Whole Child department. “I’m just thinking how blessed our community is to have such a wonderful partnership with Samsung.”

Amazingly, all the gifts fit into the district’s trailer and made their way to Santa for delivery.

“When you see the reactions of the children and their parents, it makes everything we do worth it and we can’t thank Samsung enough for all the love and support,” added Hernandez.

Samsung Austin Semiconductor’s commitment to Manor ISD goes beyond the holiday season. We’ve invested hundreds of thousands of dollars to support teachers and students and before every school year, we host a school supply drive.
