Beginning in 2020 and again in 2021, Samsung Austin Semiconductor achieved Underwriters' Laboratories (UL) validation for zero waste to landfill (ZWTL), 97% Diversion with 4% Thermal Processing with Energy Recovery. This accomplishment was achieved through proactive engagement with workers on site and cultural change brought about through the Journey to Zero, which facilitates worker buy-in and participation. Without the cooperation of Samsung employees, temporary workers, as well as direct and indirect contractors, certification would not have been possible.
